SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs will commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the Operation Desert Storm Cease-Fire on Tuesday in Springfield. Operation Desert Storm began in 1991 after Iraq President Saddam Hussein ordered the invasion and occupation of Kuwait and refused to withdraw. It began with an air offensive led by the United States Air Force. After 42 days, President George H.W. Bush declared a cease-fire on February 28th. The event will be at 11:30 AM at the Illinois State Military Museum in Springfield.
