CHICAGO – Gas prices in Northcentral Illinois have spiked and the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline increased nearly a dime since last week to $3.46. The American Automobile Association says the recent price bounce may fade if demand and oil costs remain low, however, there is some upward pricing pressure due to the switch to summer blend gasoline, which could add up to ten cents per gallon. LaSalle and Livingston counties have the cheapest gas prices regionally, at $3.51 cents per gallon for LaSalle, and $3.47 for Livingston.
