HENNEPIN – A home was destroyed after a fire early Monday morning south of Hennepin. The Granville-Hennepin Fire Protection District say they were called by a neighbor around 1 AM to a house in the 8100 block of Urnikis Drive for a home fully involved. Authorities say fire was spreading up a hill toward a garage and shed before it was contained. Crews remained on scene about 90 minutes and no injuries were reported. Deputy Chief Quentin J. Buffington said they think the fire may have started near a space heater that was used to keep the house above freezing, but the matter is still under investigation. Granville and Standard Fire Departments and the Putnam County EMS Ambulance assisted at the scene.
