STREATOR – Streator public schools showcased their therapy pets in this year’s homecoming parade on Wednesday. The Streator Area United Way praised schools for bringing out their furry friends to march behind the Special Olympics groups. Each public school in the Streator Area, including Kimes, Northlawn, Centennial, Streator, and Woodland High School has been gifted a dog that trains as a facilities dog by the Streator United Way. The animals are beneficial to students in a variety of ways and are used to help students with social and emotional learning. The Streator United Way is funding this program to help address the needs of students in the area. If you wish to help support this program please contact the Streator United Way.
