PERU – The city of Peru’s Fire Department is logging the most calls for help in 2022 than any other year in the past decade. At Peru’s Council Meeting on Monday, Fire Chief Jeff King gave a breakdown of the department’s annual report, noting that a total of 472 calls this year is the highest volume he’s seen in his position as chief. That’s 82 calls more compared to last year.
Auto aid and mutuals calls are up nine calls from last year, activated alarms are up 57, and accidents are up 16 calls. Structure fires are down by 7 calls from last year.
