SPRINGFIELD – The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced more than 50 localities and municipal entities, including Hennepin, will receive Energy Transition Community Grants, an initiative that provides funding for communities that have been impacted by fossil fuel plant or coal mine closures. The Putnam County village of Hennepin was awarded $541,782. The funding can be used on a variety of projects, including workforce investments, housing support, business attraction efforts, and more.
“These communities across Illinois are committing to clean energy and a sustainable future, and I’m proud that DCEO is supporting them in this important work,” said Governor JB Pritzker.
