CHICAGO – The American Automobile Association says drivers may not catch a break at the pump anytime soon. Last weekend, OPEC announced it will cut production by over a million barrels per day starting next month and in response crude oil immediately surged well above $80 a barrel. Meanwhile, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline rose seven cents since last week to hit $3.55 and Illinois’ average spiked even higher at $3.92 cents per gallon. LaSalle and Bureau county pump prices are nearly 20 cents higher
averaging $3.73 cents per gallon. Last week Putnam County faired most expensive at $3.63, but is now cheaper in the region at $3.69.
