MENDOTA – The Mendota Elementary Teacher’s union, the Mendota board and a federal mediator will meet Thursday to potentially hash out a contract agreement. Teachers announced an intent to strike next week if a consensus isn’t agreed upon regarding teacher’s starting base pay and benefits. In a press release on Tuesday, the District 289 School Board says their most recent offer when compared to area districts is competitive. The Union took to Facebook to respond to the district’s latest offer stating they are hopeful for a fair settlement and pleased to hear of the bargaining session scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m.
