STREATOR – Streator’s city council will have a special meeting on Thursday to further discuss recreational marijuana matters. The city has yet to adopt the 3% sales tax that many cities in LaSalle County have approved. In a letter to council members, City Attorney Cheryl Churney says the initial policy decision that should be made on Thursday is whether to allow recreational cannabis business in the city. Churney says that decision will dictate whether the attorney’s office will provide an “Opt out” ordinance or work with staff to develop zoning and other code amendments.
