UNDATED – In honor of National Bison Day, state parks and the I&M Canal Corridor Association are hosting events this weekend. Starved Rock and Mathiessien State Park are hosting a Bison Crawl this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Starved Rock Visitor Center. Kids will have the opportunity to feel a real bison hide, horns and jawbones. At the I&M Canal Boat and Lock 16 Visitor Center in LaSalle, canal boat mules Larry and Moe will dress up as bison to take pictures with from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To check out a real bison, stop by Buffalo Rock State Park in Ottawa to meet the park’s resident bison, Pebbles.
