PERU – One more police officer will be patrolling the streets of Peru. On Monday, Peru Mayor Scott Harl swore in and welcomed William Sommer to the Peru Police Department. According to Harl, prior to the new position, he served at Tonica and Spring Valley departments as well as the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department. Officer Sommer was a lead homicide investigator, certified field training officer, and juvenile officer.
