10-year-old cancer survivor gets to meet his idol, Jimmy Carter

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for February 21st:
Get this: a 10-year-old cancer survivor named Carter got to meet his idol, a fellow cancer survivor named Carter: former President Jimmy Carter.
Carter was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma back in May 2015. Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he was able to meet Jimmy Carter. The 10-year-old boy told his mom, “We have three things in common. We have the same name. We both have survived cancer and we both love helping people.”
Upon meeting the boy, Jimmy Carter gave him a big embrace and called a “handsome little man.” If that doesn’t warm your heart, the two had a lengthy conversation about their respective cancer journeys and Carter’s experience in the White House. Carter even postponed another meeting in order to spend time with the boy.
Politics aside, Jimmy Carter is a tremendous humanitarian and a giver at heart. He lives a modest life, and has contributed to so many philanthropic causes after his time as president. It’s awesome to see him in the spotlight, especially for good deeds like this.
