STREATOR – A long-awaited bridge repair in Streator has a date. Mayor Jimmie Lansford announced that after a Streator man nudged local legislators to get the ball rolling, the city was contacted by the LaSalle County Highway Department that they would take the lead on the Kelly Street Bridge project. The bridge that connects Bluff Street to First Street has been closed since 2016 and is scheduled for repairs in 2024. Lanford says contacting state officials has made an impact and he’s positive the project will come to fruition.
