OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Government is working with multiple agencies to combat a ransomware attack on its computer network. Earlier this week, the department was made aware of malicious software designed to block access to the system until a ransom is paid. Director of the information technology department, John Hagg says the county has no plans to pay the ransom and is working with the state, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security. The ransomware that hit the county network only affected systems that were connected to the internet and there is no evidence that county data has been compromised.
