SPRINGFIELD – The first COVID-19 related death has been reported in Illinois. Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike announced Tuesday, that the patient was a Chicago woman in her 60s, who had close contact with someone else who has the virus. As of Tuesday, there are now 160 confirmed cases in 15 counties in the state. In addition, there are 22 positive cases at a nursing home in DuPage County, which includes 18 residents and four staff members. Those individuals are in isolation either at home or in a hospital. Pritzker says the response by the federal government is an incredible failure and is demanding a rapid increase in test deployment.
