A chef is transforming eight of his restaurants into temporary soup kitchens

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for March 18th:
Chef Jose Andres is transforming eight of his restaurants in New York City and Washington D.C. into temporary soup kitchens in order to help those in new amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.
Carry-out meals are priced at $7 for those who can afford it, but volunteers helping run the kitchens are flexible for those who have been laid off or temporarily unemployed during this time.
Andres also noted his employees will get paid leave and health benefits for at least two weeks going forward.
“In this moment, loving each other means staying away from each other,” Andres said. “This is about We The People. Each of us has a responsibility to act for others, not just ourselves. We are all together in this fight.”
Seeing people behind local businesses going to bat for their employees during these trying times is gratifying to say the least. Tip of the cap to Andres and his staff.
