Encryption attack on IVCC computer network may take 10 days to repair

4/25/20 IVCC Emergency Meeting

OGLESBY – During a special emergency Saturday morning board meeting to discuss the computer hacking incident, Illinois Valley Community College President Dr. Jerry Corcoran said that an outside person or persons had locked up the school servers.
Registration, payroll, and daily operations at the college have all come to a standstill, and it may take as long as 10 days to repair and restore all data. The college on Friday said they are not aware of any personally identifiable information having been disseminated.
A consultant company was approved to come in remotely and assist in recovering data and restoring the servers.  There is no word on if classes online using Blackboard would be disrupted.
