Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for May 27th:
Deirdre Taylor, who works as a nurse in Virginia, is currently working in New York City to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.
On Monday, she reunited with Eugene Pugliese, a veteran New York City firefighter who saved her from a burning building over 30 years ago.
“The name of the firefighter that rescued me was always with me. When I grew up, I became an ER nurse. There is definitely a relationship with ER nurses and first responders. They put their lives on the line and they really are heroes,” said Taylor.
Taylor told the story to a firefighter during one of her shifts, and he was able to phone the captain of the FDNY Ladder 20 in Manhattan and track down Pugliese. Taylor even had the original front-page newspaper article to show him when they finally reunited.
I highly encourage you to read this article. A truly wild, serendipitous occurrence that’s straight out of a movie you’d probably call unrealistic!
