SANDWICH- A protest in Sandwich over the death of a Minnesota man in police custody was held Friday afternoon. Three laps were taken around town after a gathering at the gazebo downtown. Presley O’Sullivan of Sandwich and Jason Reyes of Plano organized the gathering of around 200 people who chanted and held signs on the streets and sidewalk.
A few businesses along Railroad Street had patrons gathered at their doors to see the march and a few became vocal in their opposition, forcing police to separate a group of about 15 counter protesters from the protesters. No arrests or vandalism occurred, and according to Sandwich Police Chief Bianchi, everyone used their first amendment rights.
