Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for August 12th:
This was something I didn’t expect to read this morning.
Over the last several months, pop country band Old Dominion has been riding the wave of their latest album Old Dominion with successful single after successful single. With that, they decided to re-release a strange but mildly amusing “remix” of the album where every word in each of the 12 songs is replaced with “meow.”
According to lead singer Matthew Ramsey, one member made a good point during a band meeting, and another replied with, “meow, meow.”
“We just thought it was funny, and then some of our crew thought it was funny, and then the label’s always asking us to do different versions of songs — acoustic, things like that,” Ramsey said. “And we were like, ‘Let’s do a meow one,’ and then it started with one song, and then we were like, ‘Oh, let’s do the whole album!'”
I’ve listened to a couple tracks; it’s as bizarre as it sounds. However, it can’t be very easy to sing “meow” over a litany of different melodies, some fast, some slow. You can take a listen to the “Meow Mix” of their massive hit “One Man Band” below, and you can listen to the “Meow Mix” album on various streaming services.
