PRINCETON – An investigation during a traffic stop of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 led to the seizure of millions of dollars in cash. The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team say on Tuesday they stopped a westbound truck for an alleged traffic violation. During the stop, the agents found the driver from California had alleged paperwork discrepancies. After a K9 indicated the odor of narcotics and a search was performed on the vehicle, located in the trailer were several storage cases and other items that authorities say didn’t belong with the enclosed freight. The driver and passenger were released with a notice of pending forfeiture of the currency seized. The investigation is ongoing, and other charges may be filed at a later date.
