OTTAWA – Interstate 80 will be closed starting Thursday, August 27th at 8pm between exit 75 at IL 251 and exit 79 at I-39, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced. Motorists can utilize Route 251, Route 52, and Interstate 39 as a detour. The department announced that this closure is needed to remove beams on the bride that takes I-80 over the Little Vermillion River. This closure is part of a project to repair the bridges over the Little Vermillion River, East 3rd Road, and Raccuglia Drive. The highway department said construction on westbound I-80 is expected to last until late fall, while work on eastbound I-80 will start in the spring.
