MARSEILLES – Marseilles city officials are urging all residents to complete their census information in order to help the community fund sewer repairs to prevent backups into homes. They are applying for a block grant from the Department of Commerce & Economic Development to repair the sewers under East Bluff and Union Streets. The cost of the project will be around $470,000, but they will be able to get a grant if the census shows 51% low to moderate-income residents would benefit from it. The Marseilles response to the 2020 census is 67.3%, below the state average of 70.4%.
