SANDWICH – A three vehicle crash in rural DeKalb County killed a Plano man Monday night. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office say that a 31-year-old Sandwich woman was traveling south on Sandwich Road near Chicago Road when for unknown reasons she allegedly crossed the center line and sideswiped a box truck and then proceeded into the northbound lanes striking a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Gary J. Schmidt of Plano. Schmidt was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.
