LASALLE – Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger voiced his concern Friday for the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at the LaSalle Veterans’ Home which has taken 33 lives at the facility. Governor J.B. Pritzker announced Thursday that Illinois National Guard staff will be assisting staff and residents at the LaSalle Veterans’ Home. Kinzinger said that this was a tragedy we had nine months to prepare for and that Pritzker’s response was not timely. He said that plenty of resources have been made available from the federal government, but they have to be invited in to the state run facility. The Illinois Congressman also wanted to know why the LaSalle home had hand sanitizer that allegedly was unable to kill COVID-19.
“We need to find out where systemically where something failed at the state” Kinzinger said Friday on WGLC radio, “and I think to this point we haven’t really gotten that.”
