GRANVILLE – An area school was closed Thursday due to a staff shortage after a number of adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine. Putnam County School District #535 Superintendent Carl Carlson said too many employees are dealing with side effects after receiving doses Wednesday and that the day will be considered an emergency day that will need to be made up at the end of the school year. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, symptoms such as a fever are normal after receiving a dose and are a sign that the body is building protection against the virus that causes COVID-19.
