Demolition of Utica Bridge set for Wednesday

UTICA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the old Illinois 178 bridge over the Illinois River in Utica is set to be imploded on Wednesday. The new bridge and surrounding areas, including portions of Starved Rock will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning at 7:30 AM. The river channel is expected to be closed for at least 24 hours, and the boat ramps at Starved Rock State Park will also be closed. Illinois 178 is expected to reopen later on Wednesday.
