PERU – The city of Peru swore in their latest police officer, the fourth woman in the ranks. Officer Hunter Wright is an Illinois Valley native who attained her credentials at Illinois Valley Community College, Illinois State University, and notable honors in the police academy. According to Mayor Scott Harl, the new addition brings the Peru Police Department to 16% females on the force and takes pride in its diversity. Wright will go through several weeks of training before solo patrol duties.
