Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for March 24th:
Garett Talcott is a kindergarten teacher at Ella Baker Elementary School in Redmond. He’s become a viral success on TikTok ever since he made a video showing him taking his students on a virtual field trip to the zoo.
Not only did Talcott take the kids on a virtual tour, he also used it as an opportunity to teach them about wildlife habitat and the various animals that can be found at a zoo.
“The students really loved it,” Mr. Talcott said. “It was a surprise and a shared interactive experience. In person is ideal, but they loved it.”
Talcott says getting his students engaged and excited about learning is his biggest goal as an educator.
“When I get on there, whether I’ve had enough sleep or ready or not ready… the moment I hit that live button I have to be ready and I have to be there for those students and make sure it’s the best day of their life,” Talcott adds.
