LSU fraternity brothers pay off mortgage for house cook

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for April 14th:
A group of Louisiana State University fraternity brothers worked and successfully paid off the mortgage of their former house cook, Jessie Hamilton.
They let the day be known as “Jessie Hamilton Day.”
Roughly a dozen members of LSU’s Phi Gamma Delta gifted the 74-year-old Hamilton a fully paid off mortgage on her birthday.
“They were my kids. They still are,” Hamilton told the Washington Post. “They used to tell me they loved me, and now, they’ve proved it.”
Hamilton worked at the house from 1982 to 1996. Not only did she cook, Hamilton was a dependable aid to the boys, driving them to the store and even to the doctor.
Former frat members reached out to Hamilton during the pandemic, heartbroken to discover she had been working two jobs because she couldn’t afford to retire.
Andrew Fusaiotti, who attended LSU from 1987-89, raised money with some fellow frat brothers and effectively paid off the $45,000 on the remaining 16 years left on her 30-year mortgage.
“This has been a blessing to me,” Hamilton told The Advocate. “I have been worrying about how I was going to pay my house off. I am grateful for what God has done and has led them to do for me.”
