MENDOTA – The Mendota Police Department has added a new member to their patrol, K9 Johnny will be joining the force once he completes state certification. The two-year-old Slovakian German Shepherd is trained in officer protection, searches and narcotics detection. Sgt. Joshua Sarver will be his handler, and Chief Gregory Kellen hopes the playful nature of the K9 will improve community bonds.
