MENDOTA – Just one day after being battered by storms, residents were enjoying the kickoff of the 74th Annual Mendota Sweet Corn Festival. Hundreds turned out for the first night of fun along the carnival midway and rides for the yearly event that is returning after a hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic. The rides begin at noon today and the Sweet Corn Queen Pageant starts at 7:30 PM. The festival goes through Sunday, culminating with the parade and the free sweet corn.
