County unemployment up, statewide down

 
 
UNDATED – There’s been an uptick in county unemployment rates for the month of August according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. LaSalle County once at a 5.8% rate last month has increased in unemployment now at 6.3%. Bureau and Putnam County rates also made a slight increase, now averaging around or above 5%. Statewide unemployment made a slight decrease, now at a 7% rate, but is still significantly less compared to last year when it was just over 11%.
