Driver killed after car strikes building in Cedar Point

CEDAR POINT – One person was killed after a vehicle struck a building in Cedar Point Saturday night. According to the Cedar Point Fire Department, they were called around 9:30 PM to Illinois Highway 71 near 1st Street, where a vehicle for unknown reasons left the roadway, hit a power pole then collided with a motel. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
