STERLING – A Sterling Firefighter has died after a floor collapsed battling a blaze in Rock Falls. Around 11 PM Friday a Box Alarm was sent out for a house fire in the 10000 block of Ridge Road. While fighting the fire from inside, Lt. Garrett Ramos was reportedly seriously injured when the floor gave way. The City of Sterling in a statement said 38-year-old was taken to an area hospital where he later died. The fire remains under investigation.
