JOLIET – A Sheridan man and Mendota High School graduate was called upon to round up the livestock that escaped onto I-80 on Tuesday. Lane Howard, a lifelong cowboy and professional rodeo rider spent about six hours along the interstate ushering about a dozen cattle onto trailers. The driver of the crash was seriously injured. Howard noted that the pavement being slick for the horses, along with the muddy terrain, made the job more difficult.
