DIXON – The village of Compton confirmed they received permission to begin building a new water tower. According to Compton Board of Trustees member Steve Gilmore, the village was waiting for confirmation from the zoning board to allow the new water tower at the corner of Main and 4th street to be placed closer to property line. The tower will be built with a 15-foot set back rather than the required 25 foot set back. The approval comes after Compton recently received a grant and loan through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program to replace its 110-year-old water tower, rehabilitating the well building, and replacing the water main lines.
