MENDOTA – A grain silo in downtown Mendota will become the home to a nearly 70 foot tall ear of corn in a new proposed art piece. The City of Mendota and North Central Illinois Artworks announced the project in a meeting Thursday. It would be funded by the city, the Mendota Chamber and other donors. The installation, which will be on aluminum panels and attached to the southwest side of the Northern Partners Silo along US Route 34, is being created by artist Ray Paseka. Donations for the piece, named “Mendota Gold”, are being solicited now.
