PERU – A ground-breaking ceremony will be held at the Illinois Valley PADS Shelter in Peru on Saturday. The ground-breaking will be the first official day of renovations to the shelter beginning at 11 a.m. PADS raised over $400,000 dollars for plans to add four family rooms, a classroom and new bathrooms within the shelter. Executive Director Carol Alcorn says renovations should be completed by the end of August to open for business by September. The total cost of the project is estimated at $1.1 million.
