House fire in Peru under investigation, no injuries reported

PERU – No injuries were reported in a structure fire in Peru, Wednesday. According to Peru Fire Chief Jeff King, they were called to the 1600 block of Schuyler Street around 12 p.m. for a house on fire. King say the fire was contained to a bedroom closet. Smoke and water damaged was reported throughout the home. A dog belonging to the residents was reported safe. LaSalle, Peru, and Standard fire departments all worked to battle the blaze. The State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
