Illinois State Trooper Dies After Head On Crash

DOWNERS GROVE – Illinois State Police Acting Director Brendan F. Kelly announced Saturday that another State Trooper has died, the second in 48 hours.  ISP District 15 Trooper Gerald Ellis was traveling on I-94 around 3:30 Saturday morning when a wrong way driver allegedly struck his vehicle head on.
He was transported to a local area hospital with life  threatening injuries that he later succumbed to.  Trooper Ellis was 36 years old and an 11-year veteran of the Illinois State Police District 15 in Downers Grove.
