OGLESBY – Illinois Valley Community College’s agriculture program will offer the introductory course in its cannabis production certificate beginning Friday, Jan. 15. Introduction to Cannabis Production will meet with a live, online lecture from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday with agriculture instructor Kathryn Seebruck.
The course covers cannabis production and its related products, anatomy and physiology of the cannabis plant, hemp and marijuana production methods, and the various uses for hemp and marijuana. It will also explore the economics and legal issues associated with hemp and marijuana, as well as professional opportunities in the industry. The two-semester cannabis certificate began in August 2020. Spring semester classes begin Thursday, Jan. 14.
