SPRINGFIELD – In a bill submitted to the Illinois House on Monday, 86th District Representative Lawrence Walsh, Jr proposed expanding the tollway system to a portion of Interstate 80. The plan would allow the funding to be used to replace bridges and widen the roadway, plus general repair and maintenance. If approved, the Toll Highway System would include I-80 between I-294 at milepost 112 and Illinois Route 47 in Morris. The Joliet Democrat stated in the wording of the bill that the estimate for repairing the Interstate now stands in excess of $1 billion.
