No injuries after high rise fire Thursday in Streator

STREATOR – No injuries were reported after a fire Thursday night at a multi-story high rise apartment building in Streator. The Streator Fire Department say they were called to the 600 Block of East Morrell Street near midnight to find smoke throughout the first floor of the building. The fire was under control in less than one minute, concentrated to one apartment. Smoke however, spread throughout the building, and nearly 50 residents had to be seen by EMS. Crews from Ottawa, Lostant and Marseilles assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire was deemed accidental and one apartment remained uninhabitable.
