SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Sue Rezin announced Wednesday that she has filed an Illinois Freedom of Information Act request with the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs for communications related to the COVID-19 outbreak at the LaSalle Veterans’ Home. The filing asks for not only all communication between state officials and the home regarding the pandemic, but documentation showing the number of applicants and awards for a Pandemic Health Navigator Grant.
“It has been three months since the COVID outbreak first started at the LaSalle Veterans’ Home, and yesterday it was announced that another resident has tested positive for the virus,” said Sen. Rezin. “The residents of the LaSalle Veterans’ Home and their loved ones have waited long enough for answers from the Governor’s administration. It’s time that we finally provide them with the answers that they deserve.”
According to Rezin, the Region 2 Pandemic Health Navigator Grant that was made available has $8.8 million remaining.
