Get to Know Zane

– Hometown: Milford, IL (It’s okay if you’ve never heard of us, most people haven’t)
– High school/college: Milford High School (Go Bearcats!) / North Central College, Naperville IL — Graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Media Communications
– Cool accomplishments/experience on radio: Won 3 awards from my work in college radio, and nominated a total of 14 times with one most recently for my work with Shaw Local Radio on the morning sports updates.
– Family Shout-outs: I’d like to thank my parents as well as my older sister and younger brother for helping inspire me to be an idiot for money, and to my lovely girlfriend who always laughs at my jokes even when they’re terrible.
– What inspired you to become a DJ?: In all honesty, I had no clue what I wanted to do when I was leaving high school and my college’s radio station seemed like a cool place to hang out. Everything else after that was a little bit of luck and a whole lot of hard work.
– What attracted you to the Illinois Valley?: A lot of it was the location, there was plenty of major population centers to have job opportunities but I could still stay close to that small town atmosphere I had grown up in and been used to my whole life.
– Favorite kind of music/artist?: I’m a chameleon when it comes to music, I’ll fit in pretty much anywhere. I’ve always been big into country, rock, and metal, but I’ll toss on some rap or pop songs every now and then when I need something fresh.
– Favorite food?: My mom makes this amazing oven baked mac & cheese that is absolutely to die for, and if you’re lactose intolerant you just might!
– What do you like to do in your free time?: Most of my free time is spent working on my old beater of a truck, playing video games, trying (and failing) to teach myself guitar, and attempting new recipes that I find on the internet like lasagna soup. Don’t knock it until you try it!
