STREATOR – The Illinois State Board of Education awarded Streator Township High School with a grant to support the mental and physical wellness of students, staff, and parents. The over $147,000 Community Partnership Grant will go towards helping the LGBTQ students increase socialization, and overall mental wellness through the Diversity Club. The high school also plans to provide mental health training for teens, a parent support program, SAT prep, and YMCA membership for low-income students and staff. The high school board plans to use in-house surveys and Illinois School Report data to monitor the effectiveness of the grant.
