Two women assaulted at I-80 rest area

JOLIET – Two women were assaulted at a rest area along I-80 on Friday and a suspect is in custody. The Illinois State Police say they were called in the early morning hours to the I-80 westbound rest area in Grundy County for a reported sexual assault. The female victim reported that a male battered her and attempted to sexually assault her, but was able to escape. While authorities were responding to the scene, a second woman said she was sexually assaulted. After an investigation, 36-year-old Jarrien L. Williams was charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, Armed Violence, Aggravated Battery and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The victims were taken to an area hospital and Williams was taken to the Grundy County Jail being held on a $300,000 bond.
